Spring is playing hard to get, huh? But - at least as I sit and write this - the sun is out!
Nature has been the thing getting me through the last month; it’s been magical to watch the cherry trees blossom and leaves begin budding against the (sometimes) blue sky.
Now that it’s lighter later and warmer more often, I’m vowing to take more outdoor adventures in lieu of being able to take German staycations. Are you with me?
Happy Saturday,
Emily
Our favourite sustainable accommodation in Germany

To celebrate Earth Day 2021, which was a little earlier this month, we shared our favourite sustainable staycations in Germany.
Did you know that every property we list on The Staycation Collection has green credentials and think in a climate-conscious way (you can find out more in the description of each place to stay)? It’s important to us that we do our bit for the earth, and we want to help you make planet-friendly decisions, and believe our staycation locations allow you to travel more sustainably while not compromising on the quality of your experience.
More details about how these properties are sustainable.
Forest foraging: a how-to guide
Friend of The Staycation Collection and trained herbalist Flora Fernandez has written this guide to foraging food in Germany, including how to do it and what to gather.
We can’t wait to make nettle smoothies, dandelion pesto and wild garlic bread. Spring is the perfect time to collect these greens, so what are you waiting for?
Germany’s best bike rides: as chosen by you
Bikes are one of humanity’s best inventions, wouldn’t you agree? The feeling of freedom I get from cycling is simply magical: it’s just you and the world, and your bike can take you anywhere.
I asked you to recommend your favourite bike rides in Germany that fulfil you with a sense of freedom and total bliss, and you did not disappoint. From bike rides along the river and past cultural hotspots to cycling routes through the forest and into vineyards, here are some of the best bike rides in Germany, as chosen by you (more on the blog).
